Thank You Don Sitts!!
The Haslinger Family Pediatric Palliative Care Center assists families in many ways. Often times with children suffering chronic and serious illnesses, it is difficult and expensive for the families to travel to the hospital for the many necessary therapies. Therapists and specialists were using their own personal vehicles for transportaion to home therapy sessions throughout the many counties served by the hospital.
The need for a department vehicle was evident. This was something The PPC Family Fund wanted to explore. They approached Don Sitts, from Don Sitts Auto Group in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, for his advice. Mr. Sitts is a true hero! He offered to provide a vehicle for the department staff, freeing up funds as they may be more directly used for the families. The PPC Family Fund is so thrilled to partner with such an outstanding person!
Card Making
The Haslinger Family Pediatric Pallitaive Care Center at Akron Children's Hospital sends personal handmade greeting cards to the families throughout the year to celebrate and remember the lives of the children within the palliative care program. The PPC Family Fund assists with the making of the beautiful cards, enlisting friends and donors to come together to create for a worthy and meaningful cause.
Akron Children's Hospital Improvements
In March 2017, Akron Children’s Hospital will broke ground on a 230,000-square-foot addition to the Considine Professional Building. The new building will bring together all of our outpatient clinics on the Akron campus and continue the campus transformation the hospital began in 2012 when it broke ground on the Kay Jewelers Pavilion.
“Our vision is to design a family-friendly space that supports the delivery of care in an environment that providers and staff are happy to work in,” said Grace Wakulchik, chief operating officer.
The expansion project will nearly double the existing square footage of the building.
